A wedding invitation link vs a picture on WhatsApp
What actually happens to an invitation image on WhatsApp, and what a link does differently.
Most digital wedding cards in Pakistan are pictures or short videos. You forward the file, and everyone sees it. It works, so why switch?
What happens to a picture
WhatsApp compresses images and videos when they are sent. Fine gold detail and thin Urdu calligraphy are the first things to go soft. A video can arrive late on a weak connection, or not play at all.
A picture is also a dead end. If the venue changes or the time moves, you have to send a new file and hope everyone sees the new one rather than the old one.
What a link does differently
- It opens a page in the browser, so it's sharp on any phone.
- It can hold every function, the map and the dress code in one place.
- It can switch between Urdu and English.
- It can be updated after sending, so the link you already sent shows the new details.
- It can open with the guest's own name when each guest gets their own link.
When a picture is still fine
For a small dholki in the family group, a picture is quick and enough. A link earns its place when there are many guests, many functions, or details that might change.
